NYK Line (Nippon Yusen Kaisha, NYK) has announced that, as part of its strategic business integration, three of its shipping and vessel management companies will merge.
The three companies are Asahi Shipping Co., Ltd., Hachiuma Steamship Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Ore Transport Co., Ltd.
As part of the NYK Group, these three companies have developed their businesses in specialized fields by leveraging their respective strengths.
“Through this merger, we aim to further enhance our competitiveness in ship management as well as in vessel ownership and operations, by integrating similar business functions and strengthening our collective ship management capabilities,” said NYK in a statement.

The three companies plan to address the merger issue at their respective shareholder meetings. Further details will be provided as soon as they are finalized.
