On April 15th, Maersk issued a notice that the terminal station of the Hamburg Port railway is expected to close from July 4th to July 8th, 2025, while nearby highways will undergo large-scale construction. During this period, rail transport in and out of Hamburg Port will be unavailable.
Maersk stated that the exact closure date has not yet been fully confirmed, but the shipping company is working closely with the port to understand the timeline and will notify relevant parties once more information is available.
Maersk is continuing to explore various solutions for rail freight in Hamburg and how to best minimize disruptions. They will work with customers to develop contingency plans, including re-routing cargo, to ensure minimal disruption to the supply chain.
